Short History: Assam OP blend is a black tea from Assam region India. The OP stands from Orange Pekoe which is a grade of tea leaf. Assam tea is a quality tea thanks to the harvesting process, where experienced tea pluckers skillfully select only the finest,most potent leaves.
Obtained from a variation of chinesse plant Camelia Sinensis (variation assamica ), was first cultivated by the British East India's Company gardens, as an experimental plant in 1836 and then the first batch shippend to London.
About Assam OP tea:
The tea plant grows in the lowland of Assam gardens,in the valley of Brahmaputra River, an area of clay soil and full of nutrients.
There are between 2 and 7 steps in the cultivation process: withering, fixing or kill-green, oxidation,rolling,drying and aging.
Food pairing: The tea is full bodied, with layered notes of malt and honey and can be nicely paired with food rich in cocoa content and dark chocolate.
